Goggle Buying Guide

Good goggles shouldn't feel like you're wearing a couple of jam jars strapped to your face. The Smith Tribute Goggles keep things low-profile, comfortable and crystal clear, with a fit designed specifically for smaller faces. No oversized frame swallowing up your features, just a great pair of goggles that let you get on with enjoying the mountain.

The cylindrical Carbonic-x lens gives you a wide field of view, so you've got a good view of what's happening around you, whether you're cruising groomers, weaving through the trees or trying to spot your mates disappearing off ahead. It's also built to handle the knocks and scrapes that come with life on the slopes.

Smith's Responsive Fit™ frame works with dual-layer face foam to mould comfortably to your face, creating a snug, form-fitting feel without unnecessary pressure. Add time-tested ventilation to help manage moisture and reduce fogging, and you've got goggles designed to keep your vision clear through everything from cold, stormy days to glorious spring sunshine.

The low-profile style looks great without compromising on the essentials, and the smaller fit makes the Tribute a brilliant option for riders who find standard goggles a bit too roomy.

Comfortable fit, wide-open views and less fog-induced swearing. The Smith Tribute Goggles are ready for long days on the mountain, whatever the weather decides to throw at you.

Included Lenses

RC36 Rose Copper - 36% VLT – Mixed Conditions

Universal lens tint combines rose and copper base tints. Improves depth perception, increases contrast and cuts glare in all conditions.

VLT = Visible Light Transmission, the amount of light the lens lets through. Lower VLT rated lenses are good for bright, sunny days, whereas higher VLT rated lenses are best in cloudy or low light situations.

Lens Disclaimer.

Lens colours shown are for illustrative purposes only and actual lens colours may differ from those shown in the photos. Images shown are edited to remove camera reflections and to highlight lens colours.

Frame Size; Small

Choosing the right ski goggle size is mainly about matching the goggle to your face size rather than your age. The guide below should help you find the right fit.

Goggle Size - Typical Fit - Comparable Helmet Size

Kids - Young children (approx. 3-8 years) - Kids XS-S
Teen / Youth - Older children and young teenagers (approx. 8-13 years) - Kids M or Adult Small
Small - Adults with smaller faces and many teenagers - Adult Small
Medium - Fits most adults - Adult Medium
Large - Adults with wider faces or those who prefer a larger field of view - Adult Large
X-Large / Oversized - Very large faces or riders wanting maximum peripheral vision - Adult Large-XL

Not sure which size to choose?

As a rough guide:

If you wear a Kids helmet, choose Kids goggles.
If you wear a Youth helmet, choose Youth goggles.
If you wear an Adult Small helmet, you'll usually fit either Youth, Small, or some Medium goggles.
If you wear an Adult Medium helmet, you'll usually fit Medium goggles.
If you wear an Adult Large or XL helmet, you'll generally be most comfortable in Large or Oversized goggles.

The best fit test

A correctly fitting goggle should:

✔ Sit comfortably against your face without pressure points.
✔ Seal evenly around your eyes with no gaps.
✔ Fit neatly against your helmet without leaving a large gap between the top of the goggle and the helmet.
✔ Provide a wide field of vision without touching your nose or cheeks.

Goggle Care

Look after your goggles and they will last a long time. Here are some tips on how to care for your goggles.

  • NEVER touch the inside surface of the lens, grease and oils on your skin damage the anti-fog coating. manufacturers add anti-fog coatings to the lens but if this coating gets damaged it won’t work. If you have a crash and get snow inside the goggle DO NOT wipe the lens, the snow crystals will scratch the surface of the lens and remove the anti-fog coating. Just shake the snow out.
  • Wearing – Don’t put the goggles on the top of your head. Goggles fog because of the difference in temperature between the inside and outside. The head is the hottest part of your body and heats up the inside of your goggle. They should either be on your face or off completely. Whenever you are not wearing your goggles put them in the bag supplied with the goggles. This will protect the lenses from getting scratched. There are also coatings on the outside of the lens, some are for anti-glare some are hydrophobic (helps moisture run off the surface), if you need to clean / wipe the outside of the lens make sure you shake any snow off and use a clean Microfibre cloth or turn the goggle bag inside out.
  • Drying – after a long day on the mountains the foam on the inside of the goggle will have gotten wet / sweaty, to dry them remove them from their goggle bad and leave them in a warm room to dry (do not apply heat to them as this can distort the lens and delaminate the lens layers).
  • Cleaning – Moisture from sweat and tears can build up on the inside of the lens. To clean this off run the lens under cold water and wipe with a microfibre cloth.
